Oral Cancer Silicon Valley
The mouth usually has a smooth, coral pink lining. Any alterations in this appearance may suggest a possible health concern, like oral cancer. Early indications of a pathological condition or cancerous development may include:
- Red patches (erythroplasia) or white patches (leukoplakia) in the mouth
- A sore that bleeds easily and does not heal
- A lump or thickening on the skin inside the mouth
- Chronic sore throat, hoarseness, difficulty chewing or swallowing
It is important to be aware of changes in the lips, cheeks, palate, gum tissue, tongue, face, and neck, as these could be signs of oral cancer. Pain is not always present with oral pathology, and surprisingly, is not commonly associated with oral cancer. However, patients experiencing facial or oral pain without a clear cause may be at risk for oral cancer.
We recommend conducting a monthly self-examination for oral cancer. Your mouth serves as an important warning system for your body, so it is crucial not to ignore any suspicious lumps or sores. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us for assistance.
